Pre-K Scribes

To finish up our Fairy Tale unit in pre-k, this week we created "old scrolls" by rubbing crumpled up paper with tea bags. Once our papers were dry, we used feathers and blackberry pie filling to create drawings on our "old" paper. It was quite an experience trying to write with our quills. We learned that people who lived a long time ago had to have a lot of patience to write letters to each other!

Valentine's Day Parties

Both the Pre-K and Preschool classes enjoyed games and treats during our Valentine's Day parties last week. The preschool class made Valentine's crowns and played a game called Flying Hearts. The Pre-K class opened up their Valetines, played a few rounds of Pass the Pickle (very popular game with this group of kids), and learned a special Valentine's Day song with Mrs. Ericsson.

Making AB patterns with teddy bear counters.
Placing beads in small suction cups using tweezers.

Hanging up doll laundry with tiny clothes pins.

This morning the preschool class worked on fine motor skills and making AB patterns. Below are some photos of patterns and of the fine motor activities we were working on today.

Pre-K Fairy Tale Castles

The students were so excited to start our castles that after all the snow days, we had to start them right away! We worked on them all last week. We looked at pictures of real and cardboard castles and used all of our creative ideas. The results were very impressive. We have received lots of comments from other students and teachers in the buildings. Thank you to all families who brought in boxes and other items for this project. We really had a great time completing it.
