One more Fabulous Fall Activity

One more fall activity that we did in preschool that is on display in our classroom are the fall tree suncatchers. For this project we used contact paper, tissue paper leaves, and construction paper trees and owls. The students stuck the trees, leaves and owls to the sticky side of contact paper and then we covered it up with another piece of contact paper. They look great whether the student decided to use a lot of leaves......
or just a few.

Fabulous Fall Preschool Activities Part 2

Last Friday, we made some fall trees to decorate our classroom. For this project we started with some twigs in a clay base. We used tissue paper in fall colors for the leaves. A little bit of glue and a lot of patience later, we had some sweet fall trees. I love how these turned out! It doesn't matter if there are a lot of leaves or just a couple, they are so cute. All the gluing and rolling of the tissue paper gave our fingers a good workout too!

During art this week, we started with a little bit of yellow and red paint. We used rollers to mix the colors. We mixed and mixed until we got a beautiful shade of orange. A couple of black triangles and a smile later......
cheerful jack-o-lanterns!

Fabulous Fall Preschool Activities

Fall is my favorite time of year! This week Kaitlyn's mom brought in a great horned owl for us to look at up close. It was so neat seeing the feathers, eyes and sharp claws. It really helped us understand the owls in the stories we have been reading this week.

After the Thursday class listened to the story Owl Babies, we made pinecone owls using cotton balls and google eyes. It was good exercise for our fingers to pull apart the cotton balls and stuff it into the cracks of the pinecones.

We worked very carefully to give our baby owls lots of feathers.

We were so happy with how they turned out!

We are enjoying the beautiful weather when we play outside for recess! Hope it continues for at least a couple more weeks.

Preschool Activities

This week during preschool, we have been reading the book Go Away, Big Green Monster! On Monday and Tuesday, we printed with marshmallows and decorated our marshmallow monsters on Thursday and Friday. The colors of the monsters were so pretty when we mixed them together!

On Friday, we sang Tommy Thumbs Up, Tommy Thumbs Down. Our favorite part of the song is when we pretend to fall asleep. The alarm goes off and wakes all of us up!

We are learning some signs in preschool. Last week we learned the sign for yellow.

This week we learned the sign for green. Learning the signs is great for language development and it also gives our fingers some exercise! Next week we learn the signs for firefighter and orange.
