Easter Activities

The pre-k students are enjoying a new pouring activity at the handiwork center--pouring water through a funnel.

On Monday the preschool and pre-k class both enjoyed bird nest cookies at snack time.

After snack and listening to the story Max's Chocolate Chicken, the preschool class painted a chocolate bunny with brown paint mixed with pudding mix (it smelled so good!). We added real sprinkles to remind us of the story we read.

Thank you to the Student Council! They provided our classes with eggs for an Easter egg hunt!!! It was so nice of them to think of us.

Our colorful carnations

Our experiment with food coloring and carnations was fascinating to watch. We estimated how many days it would take before the flowers changed color. The only color we were disappointed in was purple. We used red and blue food coloring to make the water purple, but only the blue color was absorbed by the carnation. On Friday each child got to take one flower home with them.

The Bird Song

We are learning some interesting facts about birds in preschool and pre-k this week. During circle time we have had an up close look at nests built by different kinds of birds. We made a list of facts we know about birds. They are covered with feathers, they lay eggs, they build nests, and they have two legs and beaks. During music we learned a new song about birds. Way up in the sky, the big birds fly. Way down in their nests, the little birds rest.
With a wing on the left and a wing on the right.
The little birds sleep, all through the night.

Shhhhh. They're sleeping..............
Don't wake up the birds!!!!

Then up comes the sun.
The dew falls away.

Good morning, good morning, the little birds say.

Here is a bunny--April fingerplay

Spring is finally on its way! In the preschool class we have learned a new fingerplay about a bunny. Here is a bunny with ears so funny. And this is her hole in the ground.

When a noise she hears, she perks up her ears.......

And jumps in her hole with a bound.
