Colorful Carnations

The pre-k class started a colorful experiment with white carnations this afternoon. We put two carnations in each vase......... and then added a little color to each one. We made estimations on how many days it would take for the color to make its way to the petals of the carnations. It is exciting to observe the flowers and see who has the closest estimation.
It's a beautiful rainbow of colors!

While Mrs. Stelling was out.......

I can't believe I missed a whole week of school! While I was gone, the pre-k class has been learning about colors, rainbows, and the science of the color wheel. They also had a very special visitor. Marcia Ahlrichs visited our classroom with her ukulele. She played some music for the class and even let them try it out themselves!

Preschool Green Party--Better late than never!

We celebrated St. Patrick's Day with a green party. While we were playing outside, we had a mysterious visitor in our classroom! The visitor made a mess all over the room..........
and also turned our milk green!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

Rhyming with the Cat in the Hat

We practiced matching rhyming words with the Cat in the Hat. We matched rhyming words and made these Cat in the Hat envelopes to store our rhyming words.

Celebrating the color green

This week we read Dr. Seuss's Green Eggs and Ham, which gives us lots of opportunities to look for rhyming words. The Monday class painted with three different shades of green paint. The pictures were beautiful and we couldn't resist adding some gold glitter to them.

On Tuesday during art, we gave the children yellow and blue paint and combs. They used the combs to mix the paint.........

and discovered that they could make green!

Workin' at the car wash

This morning during small group time we practiced spelling our names by making a name train.
We also had a "car wash." Each one of us got a craft foam car. First we had to make it dirty by coloring it with a washable marker.

Then we scrubbed it clean with a soapy sponge......

and dried it with a paper towel. Wow! Those cars are really clean now! (This idea is another one from one of my favorite blogs, Frugal Family Fun).
